In keep with the exponential rise in the popularity of local theatre company, the Board of
Shakespeare WA is proud to announce that Dr Richard Charlesworth AM has become
Patron of the company.

Ric Charlesworth is one of Western Australia’s most famous and revered sons, representing in his person the wide range of interests and callings that the company embraces.

Ric Charlesworth is a Doctor of Medicine and for ten years was a Federal Member of
Parliament.  He is famous as a great sportsman in his own right and as a most successful coach of Australian men’s and women’s hockey teams.  He has found time in an enormous busy schedule to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Western Australia, where he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in recognition of his extraordinary service to the community.

Of especial interest to Shakespeare WA, is his book Shakespeare the Coach in which he brings the universal wisdom of Shakespeare to bear on the psychology and practice of sport.  It is in his role as a universal achiever, a veritable Renaissance Man, that the company has been pleased to invite Dr Richard Charlesworth to occupy the role of Patron.
